Last week, California-based Nocs Provisions announced the second product in their range of outdoor optics: a lightweight 8×32 (8x magnification / 32mm lens aperture) monocular telescope they call the Zoom Tube. A product like this can add an entirely new dimension to your experience out on the trail, and we’re quite impressed by this one’s thoughtful design.

The Zoom Tube is equivalent to a 400mm zoom lens, and its compact design fits in your pocket, weighing just 9.5 oz (270g). The lenses feature Swiss-designed Bak4 prisms, and each piece of glass on the Zoom Tube has multiple coatings to reduce chromatic aberration and provide additional brightness. The whole impact-resistant housing offers IPX4 ingress protection and is built to withstand the rigors of bouncing around in a bag all day.

In addition to the Zoom Tube, Nocs also introduced the Inspector Microscope, an optional attachment that multiplies the power of the Zoom Tube by 4x and converts it into a 32x power microscope, allowing you to see beyond what meets the eye. The Zoom Tube is also tripod compatible and can be mounted on a Peak Design Capture Club for quick access on a shoulder strap.
