The village of Carção, Portugal, has a long history tied to the Almocreve merchants, who relied on loyal dogs—known as kutxos—as trusted companions on their journeys to and from this remote region. Sticking to the brand’s conventions, named in tribute to those steadfast travel partners, the Nordest Cycles Kutxo is a rugged 29er drop-bar bike built for versatility. Designed to tackle everything from singletrack to remote dirt roads, it’s made for rough, mountainous terrain. Announced today, the Nordest Kutxo 2 gets some subtle changes and new paint options for 2026. Full details below.

The geometry behind the Kutxo 2 remains largely unchanged from the original announced in 2022. The frame features relatively short 435mm chainstays, offering a lively ride feel while still accommodating tires up to 29 x 2.4” wide. It’s optimized around a rigid fork with a 483mm axle-to-crown length and 51mm offset, but it also offers the option to run a 100–120mm suspension fork for riders looking to add a bit more cushion up front.

The Nordest Kutxo is offered with two rigid fork options, providing a choice between durability and weight savings, depending on priorities. The steel fork is designed around a 100mm suspension-corrected geo with clearance for up to 29 x 3.0″ tires and reinforced dropouts built to handle the added leverage of larger rubber and longer fork length. It also includes mounts for a front rack and three-pack cargo cages on both legs, making it the better option for long, fully loaded tours. The carbon fork offers a lighter, more performance-oriented alternative, compatible with 100–120mm suspension forks and tires up to 29 x 2.6″ wide. It features adjustable rake options (44mm or 51mm), internal routing for the front brake and a dynamo cable, and the same mounting provisions for racks and cargo.
