Aside from the Wolf Tooth Components’ tools and Ortlieb’s new Seat-Pack QR, the Old Man Mountain Elkhorn rack was one of the more interesting products we saw released at this year’s Sea Otter Classic. In case you missed it in Evan’s roundup, here are some more details.

The Old Man Mountain Elkhorn is a fairly minimal and versatile rack that’s mountable on the front or rear of the bike. It’s made from 1/2″ (13mm) diameter 6061 aluminum tubing, powder coated in charcoal black, and designed to be stable and secure. Similar to the Tumbleweed T-rack, it features three-pack mounts on each upright to mount a cargo cage or extra water bottles.

The Elkhorn comes in two sizes: Short and Tall. The Short is designed for 27.5″ tires up to 3″ wide and up to 700c x 38mm tires. The Tall is made for maximum mud clearance and bikes with 29″ tires up to 29 x 3.25″ wide. According to OMM, the Elkhorn has optional fit kits available for thru-axle or QR mounting, so we’re guessing there are spacers for different widths, too. The deck measures 3.9″ x 10.5″ (100mm x 266mm) and includes slots for lashing gear down and holes for mounting a light.
