California-based bag maker Outer Shell just launched a complete set of custom cow print bikepacking bags, which are available as a full kit or individually. Find details here, plus photos of the chromed and cowed Mongoose ATB they used to celebrate the launch…

Outer Shell’s new cow print features a realistic depiction of a classic black and white cow pattern, drawn by San Fransisco-based designer, art director, and illustrator Olivia Ward. The cow print is available as a standard option for all of Outer Shell’s bags for no additional cost, so you can purchase cow bags individually or make a complete set for the full bovine look.

As usual, the cow print is dye sublimated on 1000D Cordura with a polyurethane-coated back and DWR surface finish for water resistance. This print is custom-made to complement their bags, with larger, spaced-out splotches for bigger products like Rack Bags, and it’s also filled in with tiny splotches to work with smaller bags like the Mini line.

To celebrate the launch, Outer Shell outfitted their friend John Benett’s Mongoose ATB with an Expedition Seatpack and Rack Bag in cow print. “Mongoose entered into the mountain bike world in 1985 with the Mongoose All-Terrain Bike, or ‘ATB.’ Our friend John owns this example with the original ultra-wide handlebars and bullmoose style stem,” they said.

Speaking of the Mongoose ATB, how about this classic “old but new but old but new” video from several years back? It features Chris Akrigg getting rad and having a hell of a time doing some good old-fashioned all-terrain biking.

You can grab yourself a cow bag from any product page at OuterShell.com and find additional photos of the Mongoose ATB on the Outer Shell journal here.
