In response to the news of the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria, Rene Herse Cycles is donating all proceeds from Bicycle Quarterly magazine subscriptions and renewals to help support the victims for the next two days. Learn more here…

A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey and Syria on Monday, collapsing buildings, separating families from each other, and killing more than 15,000 people. Saddened and shocked by the news, Rene Herse Cycles has jumped to action, and today and tomorrow (Feb. 9-10, 2023), they will be donating the entire cost of Bicycle Quarterly subscriptions and renewals to help victims.

“For us, the news have been especially sad, as we’ve long wanted to visit this region. We’ve been inspired by Lily Serguéiew, the bikepacker, adventurer and artist. She rode her bicycle solo from Paris to Aleppo, a distance of 6,000 km (3,800 miles), on rough gravel roads, during the late 1930s. Her book, Routes, Risques, Rencontres (Roads, Risks, Encounters) is one of the best pieces of cycling literature we’ve read.” —Jan Heine

Today, they’re featuring Lily Serguéiew’s book in the Rene Herse Journal to help their readers relate to this tragedy and donate. You can see it at ReneHerseCycles.com and sign up for a Bicycle Quarterly subscription here.
