Following the success of the Fleecer Ridge, Rene Herse just announced 27.5” x 2.2” Umtanum Ridge dual-purpose knobbies with the same tread pattern. Find the details here…

Since their 29 x 2.2″ Fleecer Ridge tires became all the rage last year, Rene Herse Cycles has received a deluge of requests for 26″ and 27.5″/650B versions. Following suit, they launched the 26″ Humptulips Ridge late last year and are now introducing the 650B x 55mm (27.5 x 2.2″) Umtanum Ridge, featuring the same noise-cancelling tread.

Rene Herse Umtanum Ridge

The Umtanum Ridge has the exact knob pattern as the Fleecer Ridge that won one of our Gear of the Year Awards in 2020, offering the same fast and quiet ride on pavement, and excellent grip on loose gravel and dirt. The new tires are named after Umtanum Ridge, a steep and remote ridge in the central Cascade Mountains, which carries its ancestral Yakima name to this day. The Umtanum Ridge measures a true 55mm wide on a 23mm rim. Most of the casing options will be available in late spring/early summer, with others to follow. Here are the estimated prices, weights, and availability details:

  • Standard (tan) $76 / 595 grams
  • Extralight (tan, black available Autumn 2021) $90 / 540 grams
  • Endurance (dark tan) $90 / 600 grams
  • Endurance Plus (dark tan, available late summer) $94 / 630 grams
