Now in its second year, the Ride for a Reason cycling event aims to get people riding long distances to raise funds that go toward cycling-related non-profits working to change lives via the power of the humble bicycle. Initiated by the good people behind the German Orbit360 gravel race series, the event transcends borders and is open to anyone, anywhere. The emphasis here lies on community and solidarity, though there’s a ranking for those so inclined. Sign-ups are open now for the event that runs from March 5th through April 3rd, 2022.

Entrants choose their desired donation level to participate in the event, and 100% of their entry donation is distributed among notable non-profit organizations World Bicycle Relief, Velafrica, Faradgang, and Bikeygees, all of which work to foster self-determined mobility in underserved communities across the world. Given the current crisis in Ukraine, this year’s edition will also feed into the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund.

Riders who sign up select a distance of 90km, 180km, or 360km along a track of their own design, riding either solo or in a group any time during the one-month time frame. Looking at the wonderful stories that came out of last year’s event, the first #rideFar attracted a diverse group of riders who all took on the challenge in their own way. We saw people Everesting, bikepacking, road cycling, cargo-packing, and lots more to raise funds for the causes, and we’re excited to see this year’s stories.
