In a move we’ve been anticipating for a while, Salsa Cycles just announced wider versions of their popular Cowchipper, a bar many of us at BIKEPACKING.com are running on our personal bikes and have grown to love. Keeping with the industry’s growing ultra-wide gravel bar trend, the entire Cowchipper range has been expanded to include 48, 50, and 52cm widths (measured at the hoods).

Wide Salsa Cowchipper

Why might you want to swap out your existing bars with something wider? As Salsa product manager Jeremy Christianson puts it, “We wanted a bar that would inspire confidence on anything from singletrack to gravel, and the added control is noticeable right away. These would be well-suited to anything from Cutthroat to Journeyman. The extra leverage of a wider bar is also nice for single speeders.”

All three Cowchipper models share the same 116mm drop, 68mm reach, 24° flare angle, 12° drop angle, and 31.8mm clamp diameter with 120mm width as their predecessors. See bar-specific details on widths, colors, materials, and pricing below:
