The new Saguaro Vest from Colorado’s San Util Design is a “desert-certified” pack with a 5L capacity, a low-profile harness system, and a dedicated 2L water bladder sleeve. Check it out here…
San Util Design, owned and operated by Adam Nicholson in Winter Park, Colorado, was founded in 2021 and has steadily grown to include a selection of custom and sewn-to-order frame bags, top tube bags, hip packs, and more. In the winter months, San Util transitions over to backcountry ski packs and other accessories, but they’ve only offered “summer” hip packs until now.
The new Saguaro Vest is San Util Design’s first mountain bike pack/vest designed for summer use, although it could certainly be used all year long. According to Adam, “The Saguaro Vest is built for long hauls, dry miles, and dusty grinds; it’s a 5-liter gear hauler that wears light, breathes easy, and feels like a nice hug.” The vest features a low-profile harness system designed to accommodate a range of body types and sizes. It has a dropped-fit that sits about 2″ lower than a traditional running vest to make it more comfortable on the bike, and although it should fit most people, they’re already working on expanding fit ranges for future versions.

The Saguaro Vest has two zippered chest pockets, two drop pockets for quick-access items, a dedicated 2L water bladder sleeve out back, and a separate main cargo zone with a side-access zippered opening. Inside, there is a key-clip and organization pockets, and the back of the vest has a stretchy cord daisy chain for lashing lightweight items or layers to.

The vest weighs 1 pounds and 2 ounces (510 grams), can be purchased with or without a water bladder, and is available in four stock colors: Black EPX400, Ranger Green EPX200, Lilac EPX200, or Black MultiCam 600D Cordura. It is priced at $230 USD without a bladder or $260 with one, and each vest is handmade at San Util Design’s shop. The Saguaro Vest is available to order this morning at 9 a.m. MST (11 a.m. EST). There are five of each color in stock and ready to ship, and custom orders will be made to order and shipped in the order they’re purchased.
