Quietly unveiled at this year’s Sea Otter Classic, the Durango, Colorado-made Sanitas Tap Root is a versatile titanium hardtail that features sliding dropouts, has room for 29 x 2.6″ tires, and is offered in six sizes for $2,750. Get to know the brand’s latest model here…

Positioned as the little sibling to their custom Root hardtail, the Sanitas Tap Root is a capable trail hardtail that’s available at a more approachable price point in six stock sizes to suit a wide variety of riders. The T3A/2.5V titanium Tap Root is designed to be paired with a 120mm suspension fork and can clear 29 x 2.6″ tires. Its standard sliding dropouts open up a range of drivetrain possibilities, whether you want to run it with an insert for single speed or a traditional or direct mount rear derailleur. And like everything with the Sanitas badge on it, it’s built by hand in their small workshop in Durango, Colorado.

Envisioned with trail riding, XC racing, and bikepacking in mind, the versatile Tap Root sports modern geometry and a number of features that cater to backcountry travelers. It has external brake/shifter cable routing and internal dropper routing, a T47 English threaded bottom bracket, clearance for up to a 34T 1x front chainring, post mount brakes optimized for a 180mm rotor, and two bottle mounts in the main triangle. We’d love to see rear rack mounts, too. Frames weigh between 3.0 and 3.5 pounds, come in a ceramic bead blast finish with a brushed logo, feature a lovely head badge made by Revolution Jewelry, and are backed by a lifetime warranty. In summary, they call it “a lightweight and exceptionally strong frameset that is built to be nimble, comfortable, durable, and extremely fun to ride.”
