Our man on the street, Chris Reichel, wandered amongst the 500+ exhibitor booths at this year’s Sea Otter Classic. Here’s what he turned up…

The Sea Otter Classic is an annual mountain bike festival and exposition held each spring since 1991 at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. This year’s event was bigger than ever with over 500 companies showing off their wares. Here’s what caught my eye wandering around the madness:
The prototype Niner Magic Carpet Ride gravel bike complete with custom 50mm travel Rock Shox RS-1.
Pit Viper were showing off their new Exciter line of glasses. Complete with side shields for all your big mountain needs.
We loved the original
Big Honzo, so we’re stoked that Kona’s got a carbon version with all the same great angles.
We are wondering when we will see the legendary
Amanda Batty in the bikepacking world.

Hunt Bike Wheels released their new TrailWide series featuring wide hookless rims and six multi-tooth pawls for super low engagement of 4.3°… all for under $500. They also had their Dynamo wheelset on display.
speaking of low engagement hubs, Onyx was showing off its prototype hub that will weigh in “significantly lighter” that its current model. Scheduled to be available in the fall.
