The new Sklar PBJ “Performance Basket Jammer” is handmade in the US, designed around 29 x 2.6″ tires, and meant to be ridden all day, every day. Find specs and pre-order details here…
As part of Sklar’s transition to small-batch bicycles with drastically reduced wait times, they have been dialing in their line-up to focus on production models and a few micro-batch US-made offerings to test out ideas. They released their first Taiwan-made production gravel bike, the Super Something, earlier this year, and they’re now back with the first micro-batch US-made model, the Sklar PBJ “Performance Basket Jammer.”
As Sklar puts it, the Performance Basket Jammer “may look simple, but you can always count on it to get the job done.” It’s built up around a double-butted Chromoly steel frame and fork, adjustable dropouts, and a rigid fork (but it plays nicely with 100mm suspension forks). It is built to accommodate 29 x 2.6″ tires, the frame has dropper post routing, and the fork is kitted out with dynamo routing and lots of mounting points. It has three bottle mounts, rack and fender mounts, a 73mm threaded bottom bracket, and uses external cable routing.
The PBJ’s geometry is inspired by modern mountain bikes and should work nicely with a short 35-50mm stem and slightly swept back bars. It comes in five frame sizes—from XS to XL—and he frame and fork are painted with a high-quality Cerakote finish, which should hold up to any whacky ATB ride.
The Sklar PBJ is being offered as a complete build only for a hefty $8,250 USD, which we can only guess means they’ll be kitted out with some boutique parts. The deposit is $2,786, and bikes will be built in December/January. Those interested can contact Adam directly at hello@sklarbikes.com. See more at SklarBikes.com.
