Soma just released two new versions of their Chromoly Steel rigid bikepacking forks, and both look perfect for restoring that old mountain bike collecting dust in your basement. Check them out here…

Soma Fabrications has nearly 30 fork options available, from lugged road forks to straight-blade cyclocross options and everything in between. They’ve also been expanding their mountain bike fork lineup, which is mostly based around time-tested specs like quick-release axles and 1 1/8″ steerer tubes—perfect for vintage mountain bike restorations or converting from 100-120mm suspension to rigid.

Their latest offerings, the MTB-BP1 (right) and MTB-BP2 (left) Bikepacking Forks, are both suspension corrected (100mm 29er/120mm 27.5″), have IS disc brake mounts, and feature 1 1/8″ threadless steerer tubes. The MTB-BP1 is the cleaner of the two, with triple pack mounts and offered in two axle-to-crown lengths: 485mm and 465mm. The MTB-BP2 is kitted out with two sets of triple pack mounts on each fork leg, plus additional mounts for panniers and fenders. It’s offered in a single 485mm axle-to-crown length. Both fit 100mm quick-release hubs and are made from Chromoly steel.
