The Soma Gullwing was designed to convert your road bike to flat bars without having to change your shift/brake levers. Check it out here…

Maybe it’s the lack of parts available or just folks getting creative, but it seems like converting flat bar bikes to drop bars and vice versa has been a hot topic recently. Maybe we just can’t make up our minds. At any rate, the Soma Gullwing handlebar is a unique new option for those looking to convert their drop-bar bike to flat while retaining the ability to run their current integrated shift/brake levers.

  • Soma Gullwing

The Gullwing has a 30mm rise, 25° backsweep, and a 7° drop at the grips that Soma says puts the rider into a “semi-aggressive position” and places wrists in better angle to operate the levers. The position of the hoods provides a secondary hand position, which apparently feels similar to a 38cm wide road bar, and the grip section has a 22.2mm diameter for running standard grips or your favourite bar tape.
