Teased at Bespoked in Dresden this fall, the new Sour Purple Pie is a Pinion-equipped drop-bar bike with clearance for 55mm tires and geometry suited for long days in the saddle. Dig into the details here…
Just released, the new Sour Purple Pie is described as an all-terrain accomplice for heading into the hills or cruising endless backroads, wherever your curiosity leads. It’s designed around a Saxony-made Chromoly steel frame, with clearance for up to 700 x 55mm (29 x 2.2″) tires, and is derailleur-less thanks to a Pinion gearbox with Smart.Shift electronic shifting.
The Purple Pie has a splittable sliding rear dropout for belt-drive setups, plenty of mounting points (you can add more for a price), and it can be purchased with Sour’s carbon Business Fork. Sour designed the Purple Pie’s solid steel bridge to make welding easier for their framebuilders, but also to get as much tire clearance as possible for riders. The frame uses 12mm thru-axles, a 27.2mm seatpost, and has internal brake routing. A medium frame weighs around 2,795 grams without paint, and each framset includes a complete Pinion C1.12 Smart.Shift Gearbox system, a Pinion cold forged crankset, and a set of TRP Hywire Brifters.
