For the first time in nearly a decade, State has updated its fat bike model. With a slacker front end and clearance for 26 x 4.8″ tires, this aluminum fat bike could be the rig that helps riders get out in the most brutal conditions…
It’s been a long time since State Bikes first released a fat bike, and they’ve finally updated their longstanding model. The State 6061 Trail+ Fat Bike V2 is a completely new frame with a much slacker front end and hydraulic brakes. Trading its predecessor’s conservative numbers for a 66° head angle, 455mm chainstays, and a 50mm stem on a 740mm bar, the brand says it’s applying modern trail geometry to the second iteration of its fat bike.
As the name suggests, State’s new fat bike features a 6061 hydroformed aluminum frame. It’s been updated for UDH compatibility, has internal dropper routing, and uses 150 x 15mm / 197 x 12mm thru-axles. In addition to the slackened head tube, the V2 also has a 45mm fork offset and lets customers choose between a stock steel fork and a carbon upgrade. Complete builds come with a Shimano Essa drivetrain that offers a 409% range, with hydraulic brakes replacing the mechanical options the brand used to stock. The updated frame also includes plenty of mounts, with mounting points on the top tube and underside of the downtube, as well as standard bottle mounts on both the frame and fork.
