The Surly Grappler—formerly known as the Ghost Grappler—is a unique take on a drop-bar off-road bike that combines long-ride-friendly comfort with an unexpected playful side, not to mention loads of utility. The Grappler is also equally at home as a flat-bar bike and comes equipped with a drivetrain that makes that transition easy. Logan’s review was one of our most popular articles of 2022, and Neil’s YouTube review has racked up nearly 100,000 views!
Although there have been no changes to the build or specs, Surly just updated the Grappler with a fresh paint job they’re calling “Subterranean Homesick Blue.” Otherwise, everything else remains the same, including clearance for 27.5 x 2.8” or 29 x 2.1″ tires, Surly’s versatile Gnot-Boost hub spacing, a 1×10 MicroShift drivetrain, Trektro mechanical disc brakes, TransX dropper post, and 27.5 x 2.5″ Teravail Ehline tires.
The complete build costs $1,899 USD, and framesets (frame + fork) are also available for $749. Surly offers a ship-to-home option for those in the US or Canada, or you can head into your local dealer to learn more. Check it out at SurlyBikes.com.
