The new Tactic Racing TR01 is an ultralight, high-performance hub system that’s aimed toward the highest end of the market. Find details and photos here…

Nearly 10 years in development, the TR01 is an unabashedly high-end hub set designed for the rigors of off-road racing. Tactic Racing claims they achieved best-in-class reliability and weight through superior engineering and materials choice. At the center of the rear hub is their ConicalFace Gear, a unique conical ratchet engagement system that increases the surface area of the interlocking teeth and aligns the internal components, which they say leads to improved component life. We’re not yet sure what hub spacings will be available; a representative from Tactic simply said “For now, standard road/gravel spacing,” in an email. We’ll update this post with more specs when we have them.

The meticulous machining of the featherlight shells shaves an impressive 50 grams off the set compared to the already super lightweight DT Swiss 180 hubs. If their superlative claims of stiffness and reliability hold true, the TR01 could very well establish itself as a top-tier choice for racers and enthusiasts for whom cost is not a concern. And cost you it will: a front and rear hub will set you back a hefty $1,300 (€1,150).
