With roads in the US deadlier than ever, it’s good to see countries with a similar disposition to car-based infrastructure start implementing the groundwork for safer roadways. After all, as much as we all love a dirt road, paved surfaces are a far more practical and common use case for people of any background to use bikes in their day-to-day life.
In what appears as a shockingly common sense use of highway code, the’ve implemented something of a categorical imperative by which road users should abide. Stating, “Those in charge of vehicles that can cause the greatest harm bear the greatest responsibility to take care and reduce the danger they pose to others.” While it doesn’t necessarily roll right off the tongue, the concept is simple enough. In addition to the rule, the linked infomercial by Co-Pilot is a great explainer with vivid examples and logical, easy-to-understand explanations.
