Named after the rugged Ceres 500 bikepacking event in South Africa, the new Tout Terrain Ceres is a steel gravel bike designed for mixed-terrain races and all-road journeys. Find all the details about today’s pre-order here…
The new Tout Terrain Ceres is the liveliest and fastest model in Tout Terrain’s X.Over lineup, which is made up of gravel and mountain bikes designed to be confident over various terrain types and loaded with bikepacking bags and gear. The Ceres strays slightly further away from the other bikes in the collection with its performance-oriented geometry and slightly skinnier tires but doesn’t skimp out on utility.

The Tout Terrain Ceres is built up around a 4130 Chromoly steel frame, which is kitted out with mounts throughout the main triangle and rear rack mounts. It has a T47 threaded bottom bracket, clearance for 29 x 2.1″ (700 x 54mm) tires, a SRAM UDH rear dropout, integrated cable routing, and optimization for electronic shifting systems. The Ceres has Tout Terrain’s built-in steerer limiter, the Ergo-Stop II, which stops the handlebar from rotating at approximately 78° in each direction, making it compatible with both flat- and drop-bar setups.
According to Tout Terrain, the Ceres is designed to feel lively on paved surfaces and stable on gravel. It comes in four sizes, each with relatively short 430mm chainstays, a 71° or 71.5° head tube angle, and a size-specific seat tube angle. It has a generously low 70mm bottom bracket drop to keep the rider planted, and the moderate reach numbers appear to be modern yet still suitable for long days in the saddle.
