Just launched on Kickstarter, Trailbrush is a 2.6-gram toothbrush head that connects to your camp spoon, cleverly saving weight, space, and plastic in the process. Check it out here…

During his preparation for a thru-hike of the Arizona Trail, Andrew Vargo honed in on three rules for cutting weight: Don’t carry anything that has only one use, try to get the smallest/lightest version of a thing, and volume of clutter maters almost as much as its weight. That’s how Trailbrush was born.

Trailbrush uses a patented system that allows the head of a toothbrush to slot securely to the carabiner hole of the long-handled spoon that many of us are already carrying. According to Andrew, this cuts down on waste, weight, and means your toothbrush and spoon can both make the cut when trying to lighten up your setup, whether you’re backpacking or bikepacking. Some examples of compatible spoons include the Vargo Outdoors Titanium Spoon/Titanium Spork ULV, Toaks Titanium Spoon/Titanium Spork, Sea to Summit Titanium Spoon/Titanium Spork, and pretty much any spoon or spork with a small carabiner hole at one end.

Pledges start at just $18 USD, which gets you three Trailbrushes and one cap to keep the brush clean while not in use. A $30 pledge gets you a six-pack of brushes, and $144 gets you the Supply Point Kit with 36 brushes and a display case. Trailbrush is expected to be delivered by December 2023, and as of writing, the Kickstarter campaign has raised around $2,300 of the $21,000 goal. The project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by July 13th. Check it out here.
