Building on the success of the original, the reimagined Veolo Bike Trailer 2.0 is a lightweight, feature-rich cargo hauler designed to feel like part of the bike. The Leipzig, Germany-based makers are seeking funding via Kickstarter, and the campaign is now live. See more here…
Bike trailers have the potential to be worthy alternatives to cargo bikes, but they’ve historically been cumbersome, slightly awkward contraptions. The team at veolo in Leipzig, Germany, aims to change that. In 2024, they successfully launched their debut trailer on Kickstarter, raising more than €100,000. Now, after more than three years of development, they’ve fully overhauled the concept and announced a crowdfunding campaign for the Veolo Bike Trailer 2.0.
Built from strong AL6061 aluminum, the new trailer weighs just 6.7 kilograms (14.7 pounds) and can handle up to a 60-kilogram (132-pound) payload. It runs on a patented self-regulating, replaceable elastomer suspension platform for stable handling over any terrain, and it clears burly 2.0” tires. It features a modular magnetic system for flexible add-ons (many are available), ultralight one-click coupling, and a fully detachable design for easy storage and transport.
In the makers’ words, they design trailers that function not just as transport tools, but as versatile multitools for everyday mobility, outdoor adventures, and sports, adding, “Our goal was to create a trailer that doesn’t feel like a compromise while riding, but like a natural extension of the bike itself.” The Bike Trailer 2.0 can haul items up to 3.5 meters (11.5 feet) long, opening up nearly endless possibilities for what you can carry.
Super early bird pricing starts at €490 ($570) for a base model without add-ons, with estimated delivery in December. At the time of posting, the new veolo has raised just over $13,000 of its roughly $140,000 goal, and there are 36 days left to back the project.
