In this Weekend Snapshot, we join three of our readers as they ride and camp in quiet corners of Spain, Finland, and Italy. See moments from their trips and find a link to share scenes from your rides here…

Today’s installment of Weekend Snapshot zooms in on a trio of bike adventures, showcasing a sample of the gorgeous scenery to be found in Spain’s Gorafe Desert, the high Gardetta Plateau in Italy, and Finland’s Sipoonkorpi National Park. Check out all three below, and when you’re done, we encourage you to consider sharing images from your recent rides using the form at the bottom of this post!

Gorafe Desert, Granada Geopark, Spain

Weekend Snapshot

As the weather cools down a little, I took the opportunity to go back for some quiet, slow, and meditative riding in the desert, riding some routes I’d never ridden before. As the sun set, it brought the warm light that showed the colours on the rocks amazingly well. Later, a starry sky on a clear night offered some much-needed stargazing and chances for some experimental night photography.

Uusimaa, Finland

A rainy overnighter at Sipoonkorpi National Park with two hikers. The hooped bivvy without a tarp wasn’t so bad. Even managed to change my rain gear inside it. That’s the best part about little overnighters, you can do “dumb” tests if you want, and in the morning have pizza for breakfast before riding back home smiling in the autumn rain.

Altopiano della Gardetta, Italy

A real classic! The Gardetta is a plateau at 2,000 metres, with the imposing Rocca La Meja (2,831 metres) at its centre. All around, green and orange fields are crossed by a military road that connects ancient forts from the war between France and Piedmont in the 1700s, modern fortifications from WWI, and more recent cheese farms. Even on a cloudy day, the autumn colors were shining as we enjoyed one last day at high elevations before winter (hopefully) comes.
