This installment of Weekend Snapshot takes us to three continents to catch up with readers on their bikepacking getaways in Australia, British Columbia, and Chile. Find a quick look at their trips and a form to share a scene from one of your recent rides here…
We’re starting the week with another peek at a trio of reader-submitted bikepacking vignettes for today’s Weekend Snapshot. This time, we pack our bags and travel to British Columbia, Chile, and Australia to join riders on their local loops. Check them all out below, then use the form at the bottom of this post to share something from one of your bikepacking journeys or day rides, no matter how big or small it was!
Kamloops, BC, Canada
By Mike Coulter (@mikey_coulter)
Winter’s icy and muddy grasp has finally relaxed enough to release some of our finest gravel loops, and I couldn’t be happier about it. We can creep a little higher and higher into the hills every week.
Valparaiso, Chile
By Philippe Yanez
On this occasion, I did a full day out with two friends on a Chromag Rootdown with 27.5+ wheels, a Kona Explosif Ti, and a Stooge Scrambler 27.5+. It was a lovely day out through a mix of terrain, loosely following the route the Chilean Liberation Army took in 1817, leading to the country’s independence.
Western Australia
By Nigel Francis
Western Australia can offer plenty of adventure just by riding the pea-gravel dirt roads. Set off around sunrise to miss the 35°C (95°F) mid-day heat. On this 50-kilometre route, I only encountered around five vehicles. Bliss! A farmer’s pickup stopped to ask if I was lost, as they don’t normally see people cycling these roads!
Send Us Your Weekend Snapshot
We’ll be selecting three photos per week to feature in Weekend Snapshot. Send yours along for consideration, and if it’s selected, we’ll be in touch! Note: We prefer 3:2 ratio landscape-oriented photos.
