In this morning’s edition of Weekend Snapshot, three readers from our global bikepacking community share a look at their recent pedal-powered getaways in Finland, the Pacific Northwest, and Denmark. Check out all three and use the short form to share a photo from one of your recent escapades here…
Fall is quickly approaching in the Northern Hemisphere, and today’s installment of Weekend Snapshot captures a trio of riders who’ve been out soaking in some of the season’s remaining warm days and nights. This time around, we spin the globe and land in a Finnish forest, the highest road in Oregon, and the calming Danish coast. Take a peek three recent reader-submitted trips below, followed by a form you can use to share a scene from one of your rides and some related posts for further reading.
Oregon

By Miles Arbour
Emily and I are slowly making our way east to Colorado and fell upon the Steens Mountains in Oregon this weekend, so we decided to check it out. It turns out the gravel loop that traverses the mountains reaches an elevation of 9,700 feet (3,000 meters), making it the highest road in Oregon. Naturally, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ride a short section of it. We ended up van-camping at the top, engulfed by clouds, and woke up to near-freezing temperatures.
Finland

The summer vacation has been spent, schools have started, and leaves are turning yellow. So, what a great opporturnity to have a mellow and fun bikepacking ride with new and old friends and acquaintances. We had mix of gravel, pavement, and forest paths, taking us at the peaceful campsite with a beach and enough room for all of us. It was a great way to enjoy a warm weekend at the beginning of autumn. Thanks to @fillariina and @cykelvannerna for organizing!
Denmark

On my way from Flensburg, Germany, to Aarhus, Denmark, I spent one night at a beautiful abandoned spot in a forest directly on the coastline of the Baltic Sea. It was only one of three great days/nights on my little spontaneous trip.
