Brevard, North Carolina

Inspired by the Looking Glass Overnighter route here on BIKEPACKING.com, five friends and I headed out to Western North Carolina for a weekend bikepacking trip. We began our adventure by celebrating Sierra Nevada brewery having reopened before settling into camp near the North Mills River. Saturday’s ride featured some climbing, some descents, a great view of Looking Glass, and a long stop at The Hub. Sunday was rainy, as expected, and was highlighted by the arduous but rewarding Avery Creek ascent. In all, it was an amazing weekend full of laughter, pedaling, local craft brews, and a chance to enjoy all that the Brevard area has to offer.

Nepal

Cancelling is a good thing, not booking return tickets is even better! I was supposed to fly back home to India that morning, but I cancelled my flight the previous night and hired a hardtail. Packed and ready to go, I cycled 60 kilometres up beautiful mountains and encountered the happiest people. I found a tent to crash in for the night and was accompanied by this cat at sunrise. Most good memories are formed when there is no real plan but an impulsive thirst for adventure.

Escaping from the ever-present news of the Russo-Ukrainian War on the opposite side of Europe by using a friend’s birthday as an excuse to pedal out of Barcelona in the search of abandoned shelters to spend the night in.
