See what sets the Wilde Bullwinkle apart here…

Long admired for its iconic vibe, the bullmoose stem-and-bar combo was invented by Tom Ritchey in the early 1980s. Wilde Bikes just released their own take on it, reimagining the legendary bullmoose through a modern ATB lens, blending timeless aesthetics with contemporary form and function. Read on for details about the Wilde Bullwinkle bar.

The Wilde Bullwinkle is designed for off-road touring and trekking, offering a wide 800mm platform to balance all-day comfort with precise handling. The Bullwinkle is also rated as such, so it’s not meant to be a full-on mountain bike bar, and Wilde recommends that it should be ridden accordingly. It’s also not for use with carbon steerer forks.

The Bullwinkle features an extended straight section before the sweep begins, a design choice that shortens the effective extension length while maximizing the butted portion of the handlebar for improved compliance and ride feel. This wide, flat area also provides ample space for mounting bags and accessories. Because of the integrated design, traditional stem length comparisons are a bit abstract, but Wilde states that the hand position roughly aligns with setups like a Country Bar paired with a 70mm stem or a Jones bar with an 80mm stem. Here’s the full Wilde Bullwinkle geometry, measured at a 71-degree head tube angle:

  • 800mm wide
  • 70mm-ish extension
  • 25mm rise
  • 24 degree backsweep
  • 4.5 degree upsweep
  • 780-gram weight
  • 48mm Clamp Area Stack
  • For 1 1/8”steerers

The Bullwinkle is offered in Shiny Chrome and Satin Chrome for $185, and Solid Black for $160. The satin chrome finish may seem unconventional, but it’s made to pair with most non-polished aluminum components. Its tone closely resembles classic alloy finishes, making it an easy match for silver setups. Find more details over at WildeBikes.com.
