Brooks England and the Wilde Bicycle Co. in Minneapolis teamed up on a limited release of B17 Specials made from deadstock saddle tops in a rich Bordeaux color. Find details and photos here…
When Jeff Frane from the Wilde Bicycle Co. heard from someone at Brooks that they’d recently uncovered a pile of vintage Bordeaux-colored saddle tops in their longtime factory in Smethwick, West Midlands, he was quick to jump at the opportunity for a collaboration to get them fully built and out into the world. The result is the new limited-edition Wilde x Brooks B17 Special Bordeaux ($250), which is launching in advance of the Minnesota brand’s forthcoming Spelljammer randonneuring framesets next month.
In addition to sporting a rare color, hand-hammered rivets, and copper rails, they’re also made from thicker leather than today’s B17s. The material, in Wilde’s words, “has become sought after by leather saddle snobs and sniffers worldwide.” There are just 60 saddles available, and there won’t be more once they’re gone.
The Wilde x Brooks B17 Special Bordeaux saddles are in stock for now at WildeBikes.com.
