Wolf Tooth Components makes some of our favorite dropper post levers. The levers they’ve released over the last few years are pleasantly smooth, work on any cable-actuated dropper post, and are all machined in the US. The new Wolf Tooth ReMote Drop Bar builds on this approach but offers a unique design specifically for drop bars.
The Wolf Tooth ReMote Drop Bar sets itself apart with a design that allows it to be actuated from both the hoods and the drops. According to Wolf Tooth, it uses a longer lever than other drop-bar levers, making it easier to reach from both positions, and machined ergonomics make it easier to engage. Wolf Tooth designed the lever to require the same hand position needed for braking, which they say is a good idea because the situations that call for dropper posts often call for brakes.
The ReMote Drop Bar has a CNC-machined assembly, two stacked 11mm cartridge bearings (instead of a bushing like most drop bar levers), and a machined clamp that’s positioned on the opposite side of the assembly to keep the lever tight to the bar. This also allows the cable end to be tucked out of sight, and the lever doesn’t interfere with hand positions on the bar. The lever is compatible with any drop bars with an outer diameter of 24mm.
The Remote Drop Bar is part of Wolf Tooth’s Right to Repair program, which allows small parts to be purchased individually instead of replacing the entire unit. For example, if you brake the lever bolt in a crash, you can buy a $1.95 replacement instead of an entire assembly piece.
The Wolf Tooth ReMote Drop Bar is available now for $64.95 USD on WolfToothComponents.com and via any bike shop, distributor, or online retailer that sells Wolf Tooth.
