British Columbia-based WZRD Bikes just sent over some details and photos of their new integrated bar-stem-rack cargo system, which looks like a rock-solid option for some spring shred-packing. Check out the WZRD Ritual Rack here…

British Columbia-based WZRD Bikes came up with the Bar-Stem-Rack Cargo System after a friend asked for “something similar to the Salsa Anything Cradle that can be bolted to the bar-stem via braze-ons.” After some serious mental math and lots of time squinting while holding tubes near the bar stem, WZRD came up with the design you see here.

The rack is mounted to two braze-ons on the bottom side of the bar and to a headset spacer below the stem, making it possible to use the bar-stem separately from the rack. The rack sits about 5cm away from the bar, leaving tons of room for all your cables and stem bags, while also keeping real estate open for gripping the bars near the stem. If someone really wanted, WZRD could even make room for some aero extensions. The rack works with either standard dry bags and your favourite ski straps or bike-specific bar bags. Since the whole system is custom made, WZRD is able to build the bar/stem to whatever fit needs or preferences customers have, while also positioning the rack so there’s no tire rub at the bottom.

The bar and rack are both made from 4130 Chromoly Steel and final pricing will likely be in the $600 zone. The entire system weighs just over 1,000g, the rack itself is 453g and the bar/stem is around 641g. These numbers will change depending on stem length and bar width, of course.

WZRD has offered up five versions of the Ritual Rack as part of an early adopter promotion, offered a first come first served basis, in exchange for some testing. The promotion is only available to those living in Canada, is priced at $400, and all the details can be found here. WZRD has some ideas for more racks in the future, some that are more integrated, and others that are less custom. Keep an eye out for those.
