Just over six months after starting my journey in Alaska, I left Las Vegas with 400 miles of Southern Californian desert between me and San Diego, where I’d make the final preparations to cross the border into Mexico.
The start of the route was isolated and desolate, and it saw me spending my first ever Christmas alone and away from my family. As such, it poised quite a tough challenge for me mentally. The riding was difficult, too, but it was equally beautiful.
I quickly put this behind me, though, as I connected sections of the Joshua Tree Lollipop and the Stagecoach 400 for some epic riding into San Diego. Rapidly changing landscapes and mile after mile of exhilarating singletrack provided me with the perfect end to my time biking in the US. The video above shares some highlights from the experience.
