Last summer, Portuguese video creator Bernardo Bacalhau was curious to try bikepacking, and his first trip took him on a 2,800-kilometer (1,740-mile) journey from England to Portugal. He convinced the team at Marin Bikes to set him up with a bike for the trip, and after a quick test ride, he spent the next 38 days riding it home from their UK warehouse. Making his way across France, Spain, and Portugal, he encountered some of Europe’s many natural and cultural wonders, made several meaningful connections with other riders, and experienced the unique joy of living off the bike. Bernardo made a 30-minute video capturing his ride, and you can watch it below:

“Spending the whole day just cycling through small towns and villages felt like the best way I could possibly spend my time.”
