Thanks in advance for spreading the word!

The Montanus duo have made another dazzling film. This time, the two rode from their home in L’Aquila, Italy and set off into the magnificent Apennine Mountains. Watch Home Wild Home here, find a beautiful set of stills from the trip, and see the new Corvid Corax, the bike they used on the trip…

Home Wild Home is the latest film by Francesco and Giorgio, aka Montanus. Unlike the films the two made in Patagonia and Iceland, this one doesn’t document a big expedition in a far away, remote locale. Instead, they created a sort of homage to their own native turf, filming the backyard trails that link their hometown L’Aquila, in central Italy, with the massif of Gran Sasso d’Italia, the highest peaks of the magnifiscent Apennine mountains. This is the environment where the two formed an appreciation for wilderness and developed the outdoor skills that have allowed them to travel and explore remote and wild places, farther afield. Home Wild Home is more than a bikepacking film, it’s a sign of gratitude to this place and an tribute to the recovery of L’Aquila, hit hard by a devastating earthquake a decade ago. Watch the film here, then scroll down for a photo gallery, gear list, and a peek at the new Corvid Corax…

BIKES AND BAGS

The bikes ridden in the film are the new Corvid Corax, the result of collaboration between Corvid Cycles and Montanus. Corax is a titanium 29”/27.5+ bikepacking rig, handmade in Colorado (USA) and specifically conceived for adventure. We’ll have more on that soon. In the meantime, here’s a teaser photo…

Francesco and Giorgio adopted a light and minimalist kit for better handling on the rough and technical singletrack that this area is known for. The setup includes Pronghorn system from Revelate Designs to lighten the weight on the front of the bike, and the Vole, a compact seatbag specifically designed to work with a dropper seatpost. Other bags include the Ranger frame bag, Mag-tank, and Egress pocket.
