Lael Rides Around the World (Full Film)

Just released online after a global screening tour, “Lael Rides Around the World” tells the inspiring story of Lael Wilcox’s world record for circumnavigation of the Earth by bicycle. Now’s your chance to watch the full 90-minute feature film here…

Last year, crowd-favorite ultra-endurance cyclist Lael Wilcox set an astounding new record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe by bike, pedaling east from Chicago, Illinois, and returning from the west just 108 days, 12 hours, and 12 minutes later. Presented by SRAM, Lael Rides Around the World is a 90-minute film that captures the essence of her uplifting journey around the planet, during which she was joined by friends and fans on various worldwide segments. The film was shot by Lael’s partner Rugile Kaladyte, a talented filmmaker and photographer, who documented the length of the 18,130-mile journey, an impressive feat in its own right.

Lael followed a handful of routes from Adventure Cycling Association (ACA) as she made her way across the United States, including Chicago to New York, the Pacific Coast, and Route 66. She fundraised more than $13,000 in support of the non-profit’s mission through her ride. Lael set the new women’s Guinness World Record aboard a Specialized Roubaix decked out in bags from Revelate Designs. You can find a more in-depth look at her rig in our post here. The resulting film is a cinematographic masterpiece that shines an intimate light on the connections Lael made on her voyage and the dramatic landscapes she traversed all throughout our planet. Folks interested in keepsake from Lael’s record-setting ride can purchase a photo book from SRAM.

From the whole BIKEPACKING.com team, congrats again on an unforgettable ride, Lael!
