Wahoo just released “Leave It on The Road: Shinrin-Yoku,” a beautiful short film following ten riders on a tour through Japan to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. Watch the film here and find a collection of photos from the trip…

In May, ten cyclists set out into Japan’s countryside for an adventure with the goal of raising money for cutting edge cancer cell and gene therapy research. The theme of the trip was “Shinrin-yoku,” which means “forest bath,” a purposeful and therapeutic time spent in the forest soaking in nature. Starting in Uguri, Japan, the Leave It On The Road team rode 470 miles on the Shinrin-Yoku Brevet, a six-day, unsupported tour from the town of Hamamatsu en-route to their finish in Tokyo. Along the way, they found inspiration and reflection, as they honored and remembered loved ones lost to cancer. The specific goal of the tour was raise funds for the Alliance for Gene Cancer Therapy—cutting edge of cancer research and our best hope for putting an end to cancer.

I think the bike is a tool for dealing with so much: If you give it weakness, it will give you back strength. If you give it your sadness, it will show you joy. If you give the bike fear, it will give you confidence. Whatever you give it, it will return you something better and stronger. -Michael Tabtabai
