Search Brigade Tasmania
The Search Brigade took on Tasmania during a 1,100-kilometer dirt road zig-zag from Hobart to Devonport. Here’s Joe’s short film from the trip as well as a nice collection of his photos…

Search Brigade is a project by the cycling apparel brand Search and State to ride near and far and to experience places in unplanned, unexpected ways. It aims to be the opposite of a curated, supported tour: everyone is invited, there is no charge, and everyone is ultimately responsible for themselves. Figuring things out on the trail is part of the challenge and charm. Within this anarchy, bonds of camaraderie and shared purpose are formed, but mostly hilarity and good times are had.
In its first couple of years, the Search Brigade rode across the USA via unusual routes. This year kicked off with a trip to Tasmania, following an 1,100-kilometer mixed terrain route from Hobart to Devonport. Here are some photos along with a short, lighthearted video (rated PG for a bit of salty language).
In addition to Tassie, the 2018 Brigade has ridden in Upstate New York and in Montana/Wyoming. Stay tuned for the route from the latter, and keep an eye on Search and State’s social media for upcoming events that may have you thinking about packing your bags and joining.
