The Waiau-Toa Odyssey
The award winning Waiau-Toa Odyssey is all about big New Zealand whitewater and incredibly scenic South Island backcountry…

Three adventurers, a film-maker and a photographer set off on a 6 day, 300km unsupported journey combining bikepacking and packrafting. Along the way they linked together big whitewater rivers and New Zealand backcountry tracks through some incredibly scenic South Island wilderness. While many bikepack-rafting films depict trips where the packraft is used float rather placid waters that make a route otherwise unexplorable by bike, this trip was all about the whitewater…
That’s what I love about extended adventures… you get into that routine of being at one with whatever the environment you are in.
The Waiau-toa Odyssey film was awarded the Hiddleston/MacQueen Award for the Best NZ Made Film in the 2017 NZ Mountain Film Festival!
