Meet Marc and Matze: two laid-back buddies with distinct cycling backgrounds. Marc’s roots are firmly planted in fixed gear and road cycling, coupled with a wee bit of experience in ultra cycling. On the other hand, Matze is a thrill-seeker who has mountain biked trails all across Europe, despite lacking any prior experience in events like this. Together, they set their sights on completing the 2021 edition of the Bohemian Border Bash Race.

The race route winds its way through the historic borderlands of Bohemia, tracing the paths of centuries-old road networks that have stood the test of time. The course criss-crosses national borders, leading riders through Germany, Austria, Poland, and the Czech Republic. To add to the challenge, participants must complete the course within a strict 7.5-day timeframe.

As if that wasn’t audacious enough, Marc and Matze chose to undertake their journey aboard two prototype bikes that are still in the testing phase. What could possibly go wrong?

Recognizing the unique nature of this endeavor, filmmaker Stephan Wieser and his team decided to accompany these two enthusiasts on their audacious journey through Bohemia. Their goal? To document the highs and lows of this 1,300-kilometer expedition that entails a staggering 24,000 meters of elevation gain. Settle in and immerse yourself in the remarkable journey of Marc and Matze. Will they manage to cross the finish line in one piece? The answer awaits in this 50-minute film.
