The updated Five Ten Impact Pro Mid looks burly, and perhaps fit for bikepacking in shoulder season months and mountain weather. Find a few details here…
I’ve pretty impressed with a few of Five Ten’s higher end shoe models. The Freerider Pros I reviewed a few months ago have held up incredibly well after a full two seasons of riding. Five Ten does’t have too many options for cold weather riding, though. And their ever-changing shoe catalogue is always a little confusing. However, I just stumbled on the revamped Impact Pro Mid, a shoe described as “a mid-height mountain bike shoe for long hauls in all weather.”
Five Ten markets these “boots” for downhill/aggressive riding but they look like they may have some potential for expedition-level bikepacking. According to their website, “the higher ankle adds support and helps block debris,” and like the Freerider Pro I’ve been impressed with, they feature a Stealth S1 Dotty tread outsole which provides superior pedal grip, and a surprising high-level of durability. At $180, the Five Ten Impact Pro Mid isn’t cheap. But we hope it holds up as good as the Freerider Pro I tested, which might just make it worth the extra dough for a big trip. Find details over at Adidas.com.
