Alongside their launch of the new GRX Limited groupsets yesterday (find that linked in the Related Content grid at the bottom of this post), Shimano also rolled out a set of lightweight, tubeless-ready GRX carbon wheels that they claim are designed to meet the “specific demands of gravel riding, racing, and exploration.”
The all-black WH-RX870-TL GRX Carbon wheels weigh in at 1,461 grams (639g front/822g rear), and the rims feature a shallow 32mm height with a 30mm external width and 25mm internal width, which Shimano says makes them suitable for 32mm to 50mm tires. They’re built with 24 front and rear spokes laced to hubs with tried-and-true cup-and-cone bearings. Both hubs have center lock disc rotor mounts with 12 x 100mm front and 12 x 142mm rear spacing. The rear hub is 11/12-speed road compatible and uses a Shimano HG11 spline.
The new Shimano GRX Carbon Wheelset is priced at $1,399.99 in the US market, with stock scheduled to be available this fall. Head to Shimano’s website for complete details on the front and rear wheels.
