Previously only available as a complete build, the innovative MONoPOLE No O1 is now available as a frameset for folks who want to build a cargo hauler to suit their particular needs. With its untraditional shape, belt-drive steering, and Pinion-ready design, it’s guaranteed to garner some looks. Check it out here…
Ahead of the Bespoked show in Dresden this weekend, MONoPOLE from Switzerland just shared the news that their unique MONoPOLE No O1 cargo platform is now available as a frameset for folks who want to build the cargo bike of their dreams from the ground up. The MONoPOLE No O1 is unlike anything we’ve seen in the cargo space with its distinctive frame shape, Pinion-ready design, belt-drive steering, and clever cargo racks. With generous clearance for 2.4″ tires, it’s ready for off-road adventures well beyond the city, too.
Fabricated in small runs in France using high-end chromoly steel tubes, the MONoPOLE No O1 was purpose-built to integrate with the 6-speed or 12-speed Pinion C-Line gearbox gearbox, but its adaptable design can also be configured to work with a 73mm BSA adapter to run a standard chain and derailleur. They call their frames “toolbikes,” a name that conveys their utility-first mission. At the heart of the MONoPOLE No O1 is the modular rack system, which allows riders to attach a Platform Rack that can accommodate a wide range of payloads or a Grocery Rack that fits two standard grocery bags. They have a load capacity of 30 kilograms (66 pounds), suiting most practical hauling needs.
The innovative Gates belt-drive steering mechanism is an unexpected touch that they say provides precise steering, and we’re curious to give it a try ourselves. Elsewhere around the TIG-welded frame, you’ll find a 20″ front wheel and 24″ rear wheel, 180/160mm front and rear brake compatibility, internal drivetrain cable routing, a single bottle mount on the back of the headtube, adjustable chainstays, and thru-axles.
Framesets come with a five-year warranty, are offered in three sizes to fit riders from 160 to 195cm (5’3″ to 6’5″) and start at €2,680 ($2,900), depending on options. They’re currently available in Pistachio Green, Freshwater Blue, and Sunset Orange. Custom colors are an additional €180 ($195). The current lead time is around 75 days.
