New from the Spanish component manufacturer is the Rotor Uno Wireless kit, an electronic derailleur and thumb shifter that is said to be programmable across a number of different speeds and cassette ranges. Programmed and changed in the Rotor app, it’s unclear exactly how the system works across a variety of different component standards. According to the brand, “The UNO Electronic MTB Group is compatible with any of our 12-speed mountain transmission parts, as well as those from any other manufacturer,” making it a uniquely interesting offering in today’s insular component market. Also said to be the lightest electronic shifter and derailleur currently available at 453 grams, the system is made from 7075 aluminum and features a Shimano-like internal battery on the rear derailleur.

Fine-tuned through the Rotor app, the kit isn’t a complete groupset. More of an add-on to their existing component systems, the Rotor Uno Wireless kit features compatibility with Rotor’s range of mountain bike components. Though the limits of the rear derailleur are unclear, Rotor’s current 12-speed range maxes out at an 11-52T cassette, making it consistent with other offerings from SRAM and Shimano. The derailleur itself mounts on a standard hanger and has a 93mm long cage. The shifter is a simple affair with just two buttons, mounted on the bars through a standard clamp design. The Rotor Uno Wireless kit retails at $800 and can be purchased directly from the manufacturer or through a Rotor stockist.
