John and Mira World Tour Update + Xtracycle OmniTierra Mid-Tail (Video)

Sea Otter 2026 delivered tons of insights and fresh content this year, and one of the early standouts was Miles’s first look at John and Mira’s world tour, coupled with a sneak peek of their production Xtracycle OmniTierra mid-tail. While Miles shot the bike and a few photos of a sleepy-looking Mira, Neil spoke to John about his journey with his trusty companion, how he got started dogpacking, and the inspiration behind their new bike. Over the years, we’ve posted plenty about John and Mira’s exploits as a dogpacking duo. But, if you’re unfamiliar, Neil’s conversation with John at this year’s Sea Otter is a good refresher on where they’ve been and where they’re going. Starting before COVID, John details the bikes he used to dogpack with before developing the OmniTierra with Xtracycle. From days on a Santa Cruz Highball to the complexities of his current bike, which has the capacity to run different axle sizes and is compatible with fat bike wheels, it’s been quite the journey.

As Miles detailed in his writeup, the OmniTierra is currently available for pre-order, and Xtracycle is offering a $1,000 discount for orders placed before May 31st, 2026. The discounted price is $5,699 USD for the complete build, and after May 31st, the price will be $6,699. They are expected to ship to customers this fall.
