The new Portland Design Works Oxrack Front Rack is a utilitarian front rack designed for discerning basketpackers and commuters. It boasts a set of unique braces that hold baskets in place so users can forgo fumbling with zip ties. Find details here…
Announced today, the Portland Design Works Oxrack Front Rack is the latest mid-sized front rack to cater to the perennially popular and brilliantly simple wire basket. Its key distinguishing feature is a pair of smart braces that enable users to snug their basket in place without fussing with cable ties, which tend to crack and fall off over time.
Measuring 11” long by 8.6” wide, it’s sized to support the ubiquitous Wald 137 (13” x 8”) and Wald 139 (15.75” x 10.5”) baskets. Portland Design Works offers their own similar (but heavier) baskets, the Timber to Town, in roughly matching sizes. The Oxrack is made of alloy tubing, weighs a substantial 730 grams (1.6 pounds), and attaches at the fork crown and mid-fork eyelets. It can support a maximum load of 22 pounds (10 kilograms).
The Portland Design Works Oxrack costs $95, making it quite reasonably priced relative to many competitors in the space. It’s only offered in black and is in stock now. A reminder that Bikepacking Collective members can save 15% on everything Portland Design Works (and have access to discounts from 100+ other brands), bringing the price down to just $80.75.
