WTB latest gravel tires officially launched today and come in three sizes, developed in partnership with Stromm, makers of the fastest UCI-legal road bike. While that might not have much to do with bikepacking, some of WTB’s new tires might suit those looking for a small-knob tire at the smaller end of the mountain bike tire spectrum. The new offerings range from 50 to 54mm across their Byway, Course, and Macro lines, with a special delineation for tires that feature aerodynamic elements, since WTB has offered models with the same name before.

Each model has a 120 TPI casing with SG2 puncture protection. Per WTB, traction comes from their Dual DNA rubber compound and strategically placed vortex generators and trip strips incorporated into the sidewalls. These features manipulate airflow over the tire and supposedly reduce drag. Each model comes in one width: the Byway is 50mm, the Course is 52mm, and the Macro is 54mm. All have two color options, Standard or Tan, and vary by 10 grams, with the Tan option being the lighter of the two. The Byway weighs 620 grams, the Course 635 grams, and the Macro 640 grams. Each tire also has an MSRP of $89.95 and is available through WTB dealers.
