Anthill Films just released a short segment from the 2023 feature-length film, “The Engine Inside.” The five-minute video follows Janice Tower’s experience of completing the Iditarod Trail Invitational, one of the world’s toughest endurance events. Watch it here…

Most people never attempt anything like the Iditarod Trail Invitational. Janice Tower raced her first ITI around age 40, when most elite athletes are winding down. She was just getting started. Over the next two decades, she would line up for the ITI six more times.

This video is an excerpt from The Engine Inside, Anthill Films’ 2023 feature documentary about six everyday people who show how the bicycle can change lives. “When we learned Janice’s story, we knew we had to meet her and show how the bike can empower people to accomplish extraordinary things,” Anthill Films co-founder Ian Dunn explained.

Anthill’s film crew filmed Janice finishing the 350-mile race to McGrath in 2022. She had just turned 60 and told them it would likely be her last ITI. It turns out she had bigger plans. In 2025, at 63, she completed the full 1,000-mile race from Knik to Nome.
