Wolf Tooth Releases Three New B-RAD Attachments

Earlier this year we took a look at Wolf Tooth Components’ new B-RAD system, a Bottle Relocation and Accessory Device, consisting of three different machined 6061-T6 aluminum mounting bases and several attachments. B-RAD was created to expand and maximize the potential of your bike’s preexisting bottle mounts. Two of the new accessories include different size variations on the Strap and Accessory Mount, a Mini and XL version. It’s worth noting that I tested the regular Strap and Accessory Mount over a couple hundred miles of rugged terrain in Georgia. Carrying a spare 29er innertube under the downtube it didn’t have any issues staying in place. The Mini and XL were designed to accommodate smaller and larger items, or groups of things. Both have a similar machined aluminum mounting plate and a rubberized velcro strap…

With just one local gravel ride on the Mini and XL, this is definitely a new release instead of a full-blown test. But I can say that each serves a purpose if you are looking to change things up in the frame triangle. The Mini comfortably holds a heavy Lezyne Blox 23 Tool, and would be equally suited for a pump and a tire lever, or a combination of other such small items. The XL was perfect for a Surly flask and a spare tube; I could also see it working for various food or drink items in a pinch. Neither showed any sign of slippage after a long and bumpy ride, thanks to the sticky rubber interior layer on the straps. Each of the Straps can be easily swapped out once the plate is mounted to the B-RAD base too. Each retails for $24.95.

The third, and rather specialized, attachment that the Minnesota-based company introduced is the Half Bottle Mount. In full disclosure I haven’t tested this one. The Half Bottle mount is designed to secure a water bottle in an outward angled position while allowing a Strap and Accessory mount to hold items on the other side. Unlike the original Double Bottle mount attachment, this one appears to keep the bottle slightly more inset to the frame and looks promising for enabling even more water storage for those dry, desert bikepacking routes. The Half Bottle Mount retails for $23.95, or $27.95 with the Dogbone (as shown) for use without a Strap and Accessory Mount.
