2020 Marin Headlands

Building on the Gestalt X line, the Headlands is Marin’s take on the modern gravel bike. Marin claims it can handle “much more than just lazy country roads.” Shorter chainstays, a longer top tube, and a slightly slacker head tube angle all speak to the bike’s ability to tackle more off-road style terrain. The full-carbon Headlands has clearance for up to 700c x 50mm tires and gets bottle mounts under the downtube, on the top tube, two cargo cage mounts in the main triangle, as well as an extra pair in the triangle and under the downtube. The frame is also outfitted with standard rack and fender mounts should riders desire to run either. Plus, it gets three mounts under the top tube for those who dream about custom bolt-on frame bags.

The Headlands is available in two complete builds, with the Headlands 2 based around Shimano’s new GRX-800 1×11 drivetrain and a dropper post, while the Headlands 1 uses a SRAM Apex 11 speed setup. Prices are $2,399 and $2,849, and a limited edition frameset – painted in a Pacific Ocean Blue/Golden Gate Bridge red fade – will retail for $1,669.

2020 Marin Lombard

Compared to the Headlands, the 2020 Marin Lombard can be seen as a more affordable introduction to the all-road category. Based around a lightweight aluminum frame, the Lombard is much more of an urban exploration machine, specced with durable components, high-volume tires (with clearance for 700 x 45mm), and built-in reflectivity. You’ll only find two bottle mounts in the main triangle, but the frame is compatible with front / rear racks and fenders, making it great for commuting and light touring.

The Lombard 2 comes equipped with a Shimano Tiagra 2×10 speed drivetrain and a carbon fiber fork, while the Lombard 1 uses a Shimano Sora 2×9 speed drivetrain and an aluminum alloy fork. They’re priced at $1,549 and $899, respectively.

2020 Marin Nicasio+

The Nicasio+ is Marin’s latest addition to the Nicasio lineup. It uses the same Series 1 butted 4130 Chromoly steel frame as the standard Nicasio, but comes with high-volume WTB Horizon 650B x 47mm tires and is well suited for endurance-style riding. The Nicasio+ comes stock with a wide-range MicroSHIFT Advent 1×9 drivetrain, rack and fender mounts, two standard bottle mounts, plus an additional under the downtube. Other components include basic mechanical Tektro brakes, a square taper bottom bracket, and a SunRace 11-46T cassette.

The Nicasio+ will retail for just $899, while the higher end Nicasio 2 and Nicasio Ridge are priced at $1,574 and $2,699, respectively.
