The 2018 Border to Backyard Relay was a multi-segment expedition to hike and bike all of Colorado via the Continental Divide Trail. We got to be a part of that journey, so we were excited to see that Big Agnes just released a video and CDT Guide with each segment…
In 2018, Big Agnes adopted 75 miles of the CDT near their home in Steamboat Springs to support the Continental Divide Trail Coalition. As an adopter they agreed to maintain the designated portion of trail, mark the trail as needed, and keep it free of trash. To celebrate this effort, the CDT’s 40th Anniversary, and the 50th Anniversary of the National Scenic Trails Act—all of which happened to fall in 2018–Big Agnes decided to hike and bike the entire 740-mile Colorado section of the CDT over the course of the summer. This required three months, 70 employees, and 146,000 vertical feet of human-oiwered transport. While on trail, the teams gathered video, photos, and tips to share about the CDT. They recently released this video as well as a CDT guide. Watch the video below and scroll down for details on the guide, as well as a few photos from our trip.
As a culmination of the Border to Backyard Rally, Big Agnes launched a comprehensive online guide for the Continental Divide Trail. The CDT guide shares important trail information along with stories and tips, split up by section. The guide will live and grow on their website in an effort to inspire people to hit the trail. Find the full CDT Guide here, including a map view of the entire CO section of trail.
We were fortunate enough to be one of the attending guests on Section 18: Willow Creek Pass to Hwy. 14. You can find their guide to that segment here, and our full story about the trip here.
