Indiana’s first bikepacking event – the Trans-Indiana offers 250 miles of gravel, singletrack and pavement across the state…
The Trans-Indiana 250 is a fixed route, self-supported bikepacking event. This 250 mile route takes riders through 45 miles of gravel, 20 miles of singletrack, 85 miles of paved bicycle trails and 100 miles of country roads – across the state of Indiana. At 7:00 A.M. 9/26/2020, the clock starts at Winter Park in Danville, Illinois and does not stop until you reach the border of Ohio – just east of New Haven, IN.
This event has a unique set of challenges, as the course consisits of primarilly pavement. However, the course intermittently traverses through lenghty stretches of gravel and mountain bike trails. Riders are encouraged, at a minimum, to ride a gravel bike due to terrain but, will loose speed on the long stretches of pavement. This is by design. The goal of this event is to take participants through as many state parks, recreation areas, gravel roads, dirt track, and elevation gain as possible; with plenty of re-supply and camping locations available along the course.
